Content is king….or to be more precise, good content is king. Google has had it with mass content spamming and has decided to penalize websites with hundreds or thousands of backlinks pointing straight back to the spammers’ websites. Quality is the new order of the day and it has replaced quantity with a vengeance.Their most recent algorithm update has hit many websites hard.

As an article directory, we have been swamped by a multitude of individuals suddenly asking to remove links and/or articles that only a few weeks ago they were begging to have published. Its a strange new world where people are now complaining that their articles were approved.

There are a steady stream of requests to remove links/articles and the reasons given to have them eliminated vary from the sincere to the comical. Everything from articles “mistakenly” being posted to fake DMCA takedown threats are received on a daily basis. Many simply ask to have them removed for no particular reason while others state that their sites have suffered from the recent Google updates. Panic seems to rule the Internet for these people and they want their problem to go away regardless of rhyme or reason.

Asking to have us remove links/articles for them would be fine, if we happened to work for them. Where did these people get the idea that we had to do anything for them if they happened to screw things up for themselves. Our Terms of Service has absolutely nothing that states we have to do anything for them at all. They/their agent(s) on their behalf, agreed to those Terms of Service as a condition of becoming a member of this article directory. We never received any monetary reward for approving their articles. We never even got a “thank you” from them. I certainly won’t stick my nose in their business or their website(s) and expect them to do anything for me for free. I am not that gullible. Getting a notice from Google that you are a spammer and you have spam articles on our article directory does not change the rules you/your agent(s) on their behalf, initially agreed to.

Many of these individuals used seo companies or article submission services/software to boost their search engine rankings and therefore don’t even have any login information for our article directory. Google now views them as spammers. It was their choice to have these services do the work for them and and cannot alter their articles. If they require articles removed or amended their best bet is to contact the person/company that submitted them in the first place and have them make the necessary changes.

If there are any request concerning plagiarism, then it is a different situation. The ABC Article Directory has a Zero Tolerance Policy when it comes to matters of Copyright Infringement and Plagiarism. If an author is found guilty of breaching our guidelines we act immediately. They are asked to include as much information as possible (refer to http://www.abcarticledirectory.com/dmca.html ) to support their claim to ensure that their issue is resolved as soon as possible. Once claims are received, they are acted on immediately and more often than not, they will be resolved within 24 hours.

For the reasons stated in this article, if a request is related to the removal of Articles and/or Links from our site that are NOT related to Copyright or DCMA requests, a $25 Admin Fee is required to be paid prior to the removal of such links (Paypal email: defreitas9715@rogers.com). DCMA and Copyright infringing articles will be removed promptly without fee if it can be proven the article in question is in breach of Copyright/DCMA. Relevant details and proof required prior to removal. There are many false DMCA takedown requests that are submitted by competing websites and we have to protect the innocent members of our article directory.

Do not make false DMCA requests! There is an enormous hassle that a false DMCA takedown request can result in, it is important for people to refrain from sending unsubstantiated takedown requests. People may come face to face with monetary damages and other court orders. People that submit false DMCA Takedown requests also risk criminal sanctions due to the fact that requests are made under penalty of perjury.

The bottom line is quite simple; don’t expect someone to do something for you that you wouldn’t do for them. You do not deserve special consideration. You have the same rights as anyone else, no more, no less. Our time is as valuable as yours…respect it.
