Joomla & Drupal are comparable in so many ways. In any side by side comparison of the two, you will find that each will provide its own advantages over the other and you can't entirely say one is better overall than the other. Joomla, which is used as a multimedia publishing and ecommerce content management tool, it is always compared to its rival, Drupal which is a dynamic and flexible CMS. It is a tool widely preferred by some developers to be able to construct complete websites. It is mostly used in large complex websites that require much work as compared to Joomla which is best fitted for medium websites. Joomla is more on the middle ground and is not too technical as compared to Drupal. These two have a similarity in that they both make use of PHP /My SQL applications.
In comparing Joomla & Drupal, one of the main considerations we have to look at is the ease of usage. Building and managing can be really difficult and complicated especially if you want to have a responsive website. If functionality is the only concern, without a doubt WordPress is the easiest CMS tool. But if you are looking for a complete CMS solution, WordPress would not suffice. In this aspect, Joomla is considered to be an easy CMS tool for the end-user. However Drupal has a relatively complicated infrastructure but all in all is more flexible than its competitor, Joomla. Without ample technical expertise, Drupal can be difficult to handle for beginners but after a proper comprehension of the tool you can maximize the operations in a major way.
In terms of stability, Drupal fares better compare to Joomla since it does not crash easily when the server is further used beyond its capacity. Drupal is considered to be the most stable content management system since the tool can still accept request after the traffic goes down. Although Joomla also handles heavy loads, it is not stable when various plugins are used. This is normal for all kinds of CMS tools. When you utilize more plugins and when you continuously add more complicated components to your site, your need to have another server.
Another aspect of comparison is its SEO function. Drupal & Joomla offer good SEO functionalities. But if you want a more comprehensive and SEO friendly CMS tool, Drupal is the best choice. With Drupal, you get to utilize a wide variety of SEO modules that can help you in your SEO efforts. Not only do you increase site traffic with these modules, you also get to have reports and analytics that you can use to track the activities of online users accessing your site.
In summary, Joomla and Drupal have their own shares of strengths. For best case use, Drupal is strongly recommended for those who want to create dynamic and highly advanced websites. But if you intend to have a site that has more content and a tool that is easier to use, Joomla is the better choice.
