4 Things to Help You Pass Your Driving Test First Time

If you have come to the end of your driving lessons, then it is time to take your practical test. This can be a very nerve wracking experience that can make even the best drivers quake! It is for this reason that you must prepare and plan ahead of your test in order to make sure you are ready for the big day. There are a few tips that you need to be taken on board in order to increase your chances of passing first time and this article will outline some of them.

You should have been given an exact time and date of your test and also its start location, so make sure you make a note in a diary so you know how long you have to prepare. You should plan your test a few weeks in advance so you have plenty of time to fill the weeks leading up to the test with lessons and tuition.

Practise is one of the most important elements in learning to drive, and is especially important when it comes to the test. You need to practise all of the major driving skills such as mastering the clutch and the gears, as well as increasing your spatial awareness in order to help with lane discipline and orientation. In order to pass first time, practise is of major importance and shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Hazard Perception

If you thought that hazard perception stopped at your theory tests, you would be very wrong. Hazard perception is such an important aspect when it comes to defensive driving as not paying attention to them may cause serious accidents. Hazard perception is a vital component in passing your test first time as you need to be able to recognise potential threats and hazards and act accordingly. You will usually get marked on your ability to spot the signs of a hazard, and also how you respond in your car. The quicker you can respond to the hazard the safer your overall journey will be, and this is very important during a driving test.

Learn Basic Road Signs

One of the biggest problems that can occur on a test is going down a one way road in the wrong direction or going through a no entry sign. This would result in an instant fail, and you would have to take your test all over again. This can be avoided by simply making sure you know the Highway Code and know exactly what signs mean. If you ended up going down a one way road and crashing into someone, it would be entirely your fault, so make sure you brush up on your sign knowledge to avoid this potential hazard.

Aside from the examples in this article, there are so many other things you need to do in order to pass first time. You need to be prepared for the worst, so make sure you think about as many road situations as you can and try to mentally prepare for them in case they happen. This will mean you will be able to deal with potential problems in a much better way and pass first time! Good luck!
