Get Rid Of Old Cars Quickly With These Tips

Vintage, them what you will but if they're not going to serve a purpose and are just taking up too much space, old cars should be done away with. There are several ways to do this, most of which can bring in a small amount of money.

Used cars have the potential to help you earn. Not a lot, maybe, but enough that you don't go home empty-handed. It depends on who you sell it to. There are junk car dealers who'll take a lesser car off your hands for a decent price. They're not fussy so even those that aren't wanted by individuals won't be a problem to sell.

Whether you choose to sell to a dealer or individuals, there are ways to facilitate a quick sale. And who knows? You may strike lucky and find out that the vehicle is a collector's item. Here's hoping for the same!

Get a few things fixed

Not major repairs but minor ones like reattaching a broken side mirror, laying new floor mats and sewing a tear in the upholstery. The better the condition of these little aspects, the higher the chance of getting a decent price.

Though spending money to make more is sometimes necessary, avoid expensive purchases like new tires, a new windshield and a new paint job. Buyers looking for used cars know what to expect and aren't eager to spend a lot which these investments will undoubtedly force them to do.

Get it detailed

Whether the car's in great condition or not, take it to detailers who'll give it the most thorough cleaning it's ever seen. Washing, polishing, waxing and even engine cleaning are done. Approach only a well-known detailer to avoid having water clogging the engine and damage to rubber pipes and metal components.

While there, ask if there are technicians who can check the vehicle for noticeable defects. If the price is right, have necessary repairs made.

Advertise it

The only way to get people to know about your offering is to advertise it. Word-of-mouth, a few posters in locations frequented by crowds, and a newspaper ad or two will help immensely. If you do decide to take it to a used car dealer, negotiate a good price by taking along invoices of repairs along with other related documents. You may need to show proof of repair.

One way to see if a used car is worth selling is to check its age and mileage. Vehicles not more than 12 years old with less than 120,000 miles on them are easier to sell. Of, course appearance matters too with exterior trim, tires and well-kept interiors fetching better prices.

If selling it as a used car isn't possible the other recourse is to sell it to junk car dealers. The last option is to approach scrap dealer who buy vehicles for scrap in whole or in parts. Some car parts are in demand so breaking the vehicle down to batteries, tires, windows etc. will make it easier to sell. Consumer-to-consumer websites are can be checked and advertised in though a quicker way to get rid of everything is to take it to a dealer. Choose this route only if the vehicle is beyond salvage and there's no other way to get rid of it.
